The Inn at Perry Cabin – Maryland Destination Wedding Resort

The Inn at Perry Cabin – Maryland Destination Wedding Resort

It is not everyday that I get to photograph place as wonderful as The Inn at Perry Cabin. A wonderful resort with exquisite grounds, activities, food and staff. A real gem on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.  If you are looking for the perfect place for wedding in Maryland, look no further and contact Tisha at PerryCabin.com

I met Brett and Matt last month in DC at a book signing event for Capturing Love. They told me their wedding story and how they were never happy with their photographs. I told them we could always do a “groomal” session. They laughed not giving it much further thought…but the opportunity arose during my writing retreat with Kathryn Hamm in Maryland, and they jumped on it. We got some absolutely exquisite boutonnières from Seabury Farm.  They smelled even better than they look!

An Unplugged Wedding

I often recommend that couples make an announcement in their program and then also during their ceremony for guests to enjoy the event and refrain for photographing it.

Three reasons to have an unplugged wedding:

#1 – I’ve got you covered. Guests have access to all of the photos we take, so they can relax and be present at the event.

#2 – A background full of cameras and not faces doesn’t look as good.

#3 – The flash on someone’s point and shoot can alter the exposure for our images.

Skills of a wedding photographer

Outside of having the equipment and knowledge.  A wedding photographer’s skill set is actually quite extensive.  Check out Ben Jender’s four necessary skills for a wedding photographer:

Charisma

The Eye

Well Versed

Adaptable

I would add especially as many of us are artists we also have to learn to run a sustainable business.

Buyer beware

Another buyer beware story. A Florida couple paid $7,000 for photos and video and then the photographer never delivered.

Just terrible.

When picking a photographer always check reviews. Check if they have any complaints through the Better Business Bureau.  And, with everything you are putting into your wedding day, Wedding Day Insurance may not be a bad idea.

Crawford Notch

Last week I spent a beautiful afternoon in Crawford Notch with Dawn and Carrie for their engagement session.  I am very much looking forward to their wedding at the Sunset Hill House in the Fall!
